Next week on Thursday and Friday (September 24 and 25) I will be distributing materials to families/students in my class. Those days from 1:00-4:00 pm I will be located outside by the Ray School Auditorium. I have so many amazing materials to give all the students. I have books, mini whiteboards, writing journals, workbooks, math manipulatives, crayons, glue, ten frames, etc. We are so lucky to have received these materials through many wonderful donors. I cannot wait to see everyone and get the materials to you!
Hello Ray Parents and Guardians:
Ray PTO would like to help facilitate the set up of enrichment/support pods for families during this period of remote learning (and perhaps beyond!). Participation in the pod is completely voluntary. In order to do this, it would be helpful to work with a room parent in each classroom. If you would be willing to serve as a room parent this year, please reach out to your classroom teacher. The commitment of serving as a room parent would involve helping to facilitate communication among families in your child's class to share ideas and support each other during remote learning and possibly beyond. We imagine that the support will look different depending on the ages and interests of the children in the participating families. Once we are back in school, room parents could also help with identifying chaperones for field trips, if any are needed. Thank you! Ray PTO Starting Sept. 14 the students will be meeting with myself and Ms. Yao individually for an initial assessment of letters, sounds, numbers, and counting. These will take place daily from 12-1 and 1:45-2:45. I will not be holding office hours during this time, but feel free to contact me if you would like to set a time to meet up. Students will receive a calendar invite to their gmail account with the Meet link for this one time session. See the schedule below.
Hello Families,
I am so excited to begin this school year and am looking forward to getting to know all the students and families in my class. In order to have a successful start to the school year, all students need their CPS gmail and to be connected to my Google Classroom. *If your child is new to CPS this year and you are still in need of setting up their CPS gmail, send me an email ([email protected]) and I will walk you through the simple steps. Then in their email they should have an invite to join my Google Classroom. If your child's gmail was set up last spring and you forgot the username or password, send me an email ([email protected]) and I can help you retrieve those. If you know your child is enrolled at Ray but don't know which kindergarten class they are in, send me an email ([email protected]) and I will try my best to help. I will be teaching starting 8:45 am on Tuesday and therefore will be unavailable to assist with any login issues that may arise. If needed, try calling the Ray office (phone number on Ray website) or contacting our counselor Ms. Nieto (email on Ray website). In order to join our live Meets sessions, click the link on the banner of the Stream page in my Google Classroom. Instructions are posted a few posts down from this. We are doing our best to limit screen time, besides the required by CPS, for our kindergarten students. During asynchronous learning, students will have the choice of many hands on activities. We have only set up two online programs. 1. IXL: Literacy and Math - Emails with instructions for setting up the accounts were sent to students through their CPS gmail. 2. Epic!: Online Books. Parents are receiving emails on setting up accounts. The class code, another way to activate accounts, is also in the Orientation Slides a few posts down. Remind: Follow in instructions in the Orientations Slides (a few posts down) to connect to Remind. This is a messaging app so that I can send out announcements to families. (Ray has switched over from ClassDojo, which we no longer use) There has been much anticipation over this school year and I am so excited to get started!
As of now, we will stay in whole group the first week.
The second week I plan on assessing students individually. Schedule to come. Small groups should officially start the third week. Hi Families,
My goal is to make sure all my students have their CPS gmail and access to our google classroom before the first day of student attendance. I have many students who were at Ray for Pre K, so you should have already received a generated email inviting you. If your child is new to Ray this year, send me an email ([email protected]) so that I can help you get your child's email set up. I have also added an "assignment" under the Classwork tab. I am only asking for you to make it as done/submit it so that I have a clear list of who is connected. Thanks! |
